Coronavirus: 19,000 dead in Spain, an underestimated assessment?

Spain recorded 551 additional deaths from Covid-19, a figure slightly higher than the previous day, which now brings the total to more than 19,000 dead. A balance sheet that some consider undervalued, the figures mainly taking into account only deaths in hospital. However, the Catalan authorities, for example, put forward a number of deaths in the province almost twice as high as the official toll (7,000 against 3,855).

The confinement in Spain is in force at least until April 25. It could be extended, even if for health authorities, the peak of the epidemic has passed, probably at the beginning of the month when the country then counted nearly 1000 deaths daily.

The government authorized a partial resumption of work earlier this week, particularly for the construction and industrial sectors. Masks are distributed in transport.
