USA: 749 décès supplémentaires dus au coronavirus durant les dernières 24 heures

The new coronavirus has killed an additional 749 people in the United States in the past 24 hours, according to a 12:30 GMT report Saturday from Johns Hopkins University.

These new deaths bring the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the United States to 109,791, where more than 1.9 million cases of infection have been recorded. Some 500,000 people have been cured at this point, according to the university located in Baltimore, in the eastern United States.

The United States is the most affected country in terms of both death and Ovid-19 infection. On the other hand, per capita, several European countries are ahead of the United States in terms of the number of deaths, such as France, Italy or Spain.

President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States had "largely overcome" the crisis and again called on governors to ease restrictions in their states to fight the pandemic.

At the height of the crisis, in mid-April, the United States recorded around 3000 deaths per day. Now, this figure has dropped to around 1,000 deaths and 20,000 daily infections.

In addition, health workers are concerned about large gatherings that have been held for more than a week across the country to protest police brutality and racism, believing that they could possibly lead to a rebound in the contaminations in the next weeks.
