Coronavirus: daily reports of more than 800 deaths in Italy and Spain and some signs of hope

Cumulated, the results in Spain and Italy are now more than 18,500 dead since the beginning of February, or two thirds of the deaths caused by the pandemic.

Nearly 36,000 deaths worldwide, including more than 26,000 in Europe ... the toll of the coronavirus pandemic continues to grow. The two most bereaved countries, Italy and Spain, post very heavy daily reports, but have known for a few days a slowdown in the progression of fatal cases and new cases of infection, nurturing the hope that the peak is coming soon.

Without a proven vaccine or treatment, more than four in ten people on the planet were confined to varying degrees on Monday, March 30, in hopes of stemming the spread of the pandemic.
More than 740,000 cases of new coronavirus have been officially declared worldwide since the start of the pandemic, according to a count made by Agence France-Presse, from official sources. The number of cases diagnosed, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections, with many countries now testing only those cases requiring hospital care.
