Coronavirus in Italy: 101-year-old man left hospital cured
A 101-year-old man was released from hospital in Rimini, Italy, after being tested positive for Covid-19. "In these times, it is always good to give a little hope," said the mayor of the city on Thursday, March 26.
A little hope. A centenary, tested positive for Covid-19, left the hospital in the Italian city of Rimini, on the Adriatic coast, healed Wednesday evening, said Thursday, March 26 Gloria Lisi, vice-mayor of this city.
"I have friends who work at the local hospital with whom I speak in the evening when we have finished the workday," said Gloria Lisi on the phone. "The other day, they told me that a gentleman, born in 1919, had been hospitalized because he tested positive for Covid-19. This gentleman looked good and he quickly became the mascot of the hospital", she continued.
Nicknamed "Mr. P", the 101-year-old man had been admitted to hospital in Rimini, a city in northern Italy, the previous week, said CNN. "And last night they called me to tell me that this gentleman is out of the hospital. In these times it is always good to give a little hope," concluded the vice mayor.
With 7,503 deaths and nearly 75,000 cases to date, the peninsula remains the country most cruelly hit by the pandemic. Official figures include deaths in hospitals and retirement homes. The average age of the deceased, according to the latest statistics from the Higher Institute of Health (ISS), is 78 years.
