France has registered 87 additional deaths linked to Covid-19, including 53 in hospitals, bringing the total number of deaths since the start of the epidemic to 29,296, according to a report released Tuesday by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) .

At the same time, the number of severe cases of Covid-19 requiring hospitalization in intensive care continues to decline and has dropped below 1,000, with 955 patients, 69 less than the previous day.

Four regions (Ile-de-France, Grand-Est, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Hauts-de-France) account for 74% of patients hospitalized in intensive care, specifies the DGS.

The resuscitation peak was reached in early April with more than 7,000 patients in serious condition (for an intensive care capacity of 5,000 beds before the crisis).

With regard to social and medico-social establishments (including nursing homes), the balance sheet has increased with 34 new deaths since the last figures as of June 2, for a total of 10,384 deaths.

Currently, 11,961 people are hospitalized in France for a Covid-19 infection (they were more than 14,000 a week ago) and on the account 169 new admissions recorded in the last 24 hours, a figure also falling.
