Twitter has intervened again to report a misleading message by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, this time identifying that a video has been manipulated.
Following the publication of the video by Donald Trump late Thursday, the company made the rare gesture of affixing the warning message "Media manipulated". A hyperlink leads to a page demonstrating that the video is a special feature made from the original images broadcast by the CNN news channel. The rigged video still remains available on Mr. Trump's wire.
The original video shows two toddlers, a black and a white, offering a beautiful scene of friendship running towards each other expressing their joy at meeting.
In the version shared by Donald Trump, the video begins with the end of the sequence, where one of the children walks away while the other follows him. We added disturbing music and a false headline saying that "a terrified child flees a racist child". We also see a fake logo similar to that of CNN.
The fake version of the video then cuts to return a little earlier in the sequence, where the two boys demonstrate their affection. A slogan then appears saying: "America is not the problem. False news is. ”
This is the most recent episode of friction between Donald Trump and the big social media companies. The president accuses them of censoring conservative voices.
Last month, the American president attacked Twitter after he posted warnings that two of his posts contained false information. The messages were about voting by mail. Trump then vowed to adopt new rules to govern social media businesses.
Another video posted by Donald Trump in March was posted on Twitter. The company affixed the word "Manipulated Media" to a video of the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
