The balance of patients in intensive care is still down, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Directorate General of Health.

While the Director General of Health Jérôme Salomon said on Wednesday that he had to "prepare for a resumption of the epidemic", the latest assessment communicated by the Directorate General of Health (DGS) identified 32 new deaths linked to coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Since the start of the epidemic, 29,965 people have died after being infected with SARS-CoV-2.

Among these victims, 19,489 people lost their lives in hospitals. In nursing homes and health centers, 10,497 died. The latter figure, last updated on Tuesday, will not be updated until Wednesday July 15.

Just over 500 people in intensive care
On the hospitalization front, 7,297 people are currently being cared for in French establishments. In the past 24 hours, 83 new patients have been admitted.

Among the hospitalized patients, 529 present a serious form of the disease which requires care in the intensive care units. 18 new serious cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, but the balance, taking account of discharges, remains negative with 9 fewer patients.

If in mainland France the situation "remains stable", according to the DGS, it is "still worrying" in Guyana. "The number of cases continues to grow every day, as does the number of clusters, in particular near the coast and in the main municipalities of the region", underlines the Directorate General for Health.
