The new Coronavirus infections exceeded the barrier of twenty million, more than seven months after the first case was recorded in China last December, while the number of deaths exceeded 734,000, according to the World Meter website, which specializes in monitoring statistics related to the virus.

The United States leads the world in terms of the number of cases, followed by Brazil, India, Russia, South Africa, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Iran, Spain, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

As for the deaths, the United States also leads the world, followed by Brazil, Mexico, the United Kingdom, India, Italy and France.

5 million in the United States

The death toll from the new Corona virus in the United States exceeded 5 million, to remain the most affected country in the world, followed by Brazil, which counted more than 100 thousand deaths due to the epidemic.

The pandemic has killed 162,000 people on the American soil, where the infection curve has witnessed a significant increase since the end of June, and the number of daily infections with the virus reached 70,000 in mid-July.

US President Donald Trump may face accusations of violating the constitution by unilaterally extending the aid package designed to contain the repercussions of the Corona virus.

And Democratic House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi - in a statement to CNN - considered unconstitutional the new aid package announced by Trump on Saturday after negotiations between Republicans and Democrats reached a dead end.

In turn, the leader of the Democratic minority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, said in a statement to ABC that the measures announced by Trump unilaterally were "unenforceable, weak and narrow-minded."

But as the US economy continues to struggle to get out of the repercussions of the virus, it appears that Democrats are not determined to legally appeal the president's decision, which they consider inappropriate.

As for Brazil, the second most affected country in the world by the epidemic, it has officially recorded three million infections. Experts doubt the accuracy of the numbers of injuries and deaths due to the low number of examinations.

Respirators in the heat

To face another wave of the virus, many European governments imposed the wearing of a protective mask and maintaining a safety distance between vacationers who flocked to the beaches, at a time when the temperature in regions of Europe exceeded 35 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is relatively high in the old continent.

And in France, wearing a muzzle will become mandatory from Monday in some crowded areas in Paris.

Since July 25, Belgium - one of the countries with the largest number of deaths in relation to its population - imposed the wearing of masks in "every place that records a high percentage of visitors" from all kinds of markets and commercial streets.

On Sunday, several cities and resorts in the Belgian Flemish region announced that tourists were banned for a day, during the heat wave, after accidents resulting from lack of respect for health measures.

A hundred days without injuries

Also in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany, crowds congregate on beaches, most of them ignoring physical distancing. Local authorities have warned that some beaches in northern Germany, as well as several lakes, should be closed due to the impossibility of respecting the safe distance of one and a half meters between people.

Unlike the rest of the world, New Zealand is witnessing its 100th day in a row, without any new infection recorded.

The country of about 5 million people, which the World Health Organization considers a model in terms of containing the epidemic, recorded only 1219 injuries and 22 deaths.

Pakistan lifts restrictions

For its part, Pakistan today, Monday, lifted the restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of the Corona virus, despite warnings of medical staff that the number of infections in the country could rise again.

"The medical association is surprised by the decision to open all sectors at the same time," said Secretary-General of the Doctors' Association, Kassir Sajjad.

The decision to end all restrictions and lockdown measures was taken last week after a significant drop in cases.

Today, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 539 new cases of the virus and 15 deaths during the past 24 hours. Pakistan has recorded 284,660 cases of coronavirus and 6,097 deaths, and more than 80% of those infected with the virus have so far recovered.
